This research, a study of saturation in multipactor in rectangular waveguide, was the result of a close international collaboration between Lancaster University, the Cockcroft Institute and industrial partner TechX UK/USA and was funded by an STFC grant (ST/H003932/1). It is the first conclusive proof that space charge completely alters the trajectories of the electrons prior to saturation, against common scientific belief. This paper has led others to propose a revised analytical model of multipactor[1] and has been shown to be relevant to other geometries.
