Additional information

The originality of this work lies in its use of an evolutionary algorithm for overall optimization of configuration of PZT-based vibration control systems. The approach described is distinguished by the formulating and taking into account of all parameters affecting the performance of the control system in a single optimization problem. This is unique since it is not obvious beforehand how the number, length and thickness of PZTs will affect the performance of the control system designed to improve the damping of the structures. Practically the algorithm can be used for effective implementation of any PZT-based vibration control system.
