SME application of LCA-based carbon footprints

Undertaken in collaboration with Small World Consulting Ltd, this ERDF-funded research analyses the applicability of carbon footprint calculators to a cross-sectoral range of SMEs, recommending and implementing adaptations to existing methodologies for consideration within an initial cohort of 15 SMEs. Validated and utilised within a portfolio of carbon calculation tools by Small World Consulting Ltd (who subsequently employed the research student), the research has attracted interest from New Zealand, Australia, China, Taiwan, USA, Portugal and Holland, where it has been used by or has contributed to the development of footprinting tools of other researchers, usually for a particular industry sector.
