This work was performed as part of the HiLumi design study for the LHC luminosity upgrade and as part of the EUCARD project both funded by FP7. Dr Burt is currently the task leader and workpackage co-coordinator for compact crab cavities (the highest priority element of the upgrade) as part the HiLumi design study, collaborating with 10 other internationally leading institutes including CERN. This work was part of an invited talk given by Dr Burt at SRF2009 on SRF crab cavities. This paper has led to several invitations to review similar work for this and other journals.
