Additional information

Imaging of drug metabolism is of potentially great value to pharmaceutical companies in understanding the mode of action of a compound. This work, the output of an EPSRC Challenging Engineering Award (EP/E007864/1), follows earlier publications (DoI:10.3390/s100301871) to demonstrate that drug imaging may be achieved by label-free, non-linear optical microscopies. This work led directly to an equipment grant from Cancer Research UK (C157/A12753, £250k) to develop this instrumentation in partnership with the cancer research group based at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh. Images from this paper have been reproduced with permission in the International Journal of Pharmaceutics (DoI:10.1016/j.ijpharm.2010.12.017).
