Temporary On-Skin Passive UHF RFID Transfer Tag
This paper presents a world first RFID tag which is deposited directly on the skin as a temporary transfer tattoo. Although at the feasibility stage, with a 50cm read range, the technology could impact significantly on automated identification of personnel in restricted buildings and at ticketed events. The results were highly commended in the 2011 IET Innovation Awards (LEatenton@theiet.org) and contributed to a funded EPSRC proposal (EP/J000086/1) in collaboration with the University of Manchester and currently inform a second proposal to develop low cost RFID based sensors. This work places Kent at the cutting edge of skin-mounted wireless technology.
