Part of an EU funded COST Action IC0802 (WP3) project. The paper contains a framework for predicting, evaluating and improving the performance of laser communication links. It is a fundamental work that forms the basis of further global further developments as it has been used and referenced by other researchers worldwide.

The findings have been included in a fast selling book (ISBN: 9781439851883) in the field. The framework is also part of the COST Action’s final report that will serve as recommendations to standardization bodies and it’s also available to European Industries.

The original idea, its implementation and writing of the article were my contributions as the lead author.
