Trowler initiated this book, determined the structure of its contents, secured a contract, acted as editor-in-chief, wrote Chapters 1, 2 , 3 , 4 and 8 and is lead author Chapter 22) and compiled the final version. The ‘rethinking’ of the title in relation to the conceptualisation of disciplines and their influence in relation to previous editions of Academic Tribes and Territories (one of which Trowler co-authored) was his. This book encapsulates over 10 years’ intellectual engagement and writing on the topic by Trowler, including outputs not submitted. Together the series is among the most influential work in the field.
