Significance of output:

Wall turbulence occurs in almost all engineering fluid flows. This paper uses a model derived from the Navier-Stokes equations to make new predictions of the distribution of energy across scales in turbulence at realistically high Reynolds numbers. These conditions are currently not reachable by conventional numerical simulation. This work was partially funded by US AFOSR including a visit by Sharma to McKeon's group at Caltech and a return visit of Moarref to Southampton.
