An Asynchronous Spike Event Coding Scheme for Programmable Analog Arrays
This paper presents a novel method for coding analogue signals for communication between programmable cells, as applied to emerging field-programmable analogue array (FPAA) technology. This method provides a robust and flexible framework for the routing and communication of signals across the array, not previously possible.
A resultant funded collaboration with UPC, Spain (jordi.madrenas@upc.edu) led to a research project on asynchronous analogue spike event encoders in a digital FPGA-based neuromorphic processor (DoI:10.1109/ISCAS.2013.6572173). Follow-on work is included in collaborative EPSRC project (EP/G063710/1, EP/G62609/1) supported by QinetiQ. This work has been extended in USA, Columbia University, DoI:10.1109/TNN.2010.2103323; Dartmouth College, DoI: 10.1007/s10470-013-0041-y.
