Maps of Utopia is the result of 9 years' work. It is 219 pages and 107,000 words in length. Research for this output necessitated original scholarship conducted in the H. G. Wells special collections held at the British Library, the Bromley Public Library and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It is the first full-length, comprehensive study of Wells’s aesthetics across work spanning several forms and produced over five decades.
