Additional information

Invited after being the Best Paper in the aerospace session of the 2009 BINDT conference. The work arises from a 45MEuro EU project TATEM involving 70 partners aiming to reduce aircraft maintenance costs by 20%. It reveals, for the first time, hidden variation patterns of acoustic-ultrasonic signals arising during fatigue of metallic aerostructures. This work contributed to the development of collaboration in condition monitoring of metallurgical equipment with the China State Key Laboratory of Hybrid Process Industry Automation System and Equipment Technology (for the world’s largest steel industry) via the award of a Visiting Chair to Shark.
