<09>This paper describes the convergence of HCI principles and methods to the requirements engineering process in a case study to develop a research analysis and visualization tool. It is the first such work to explore the implications, challenges and limitations of this convergence within the context of an e-research infrastructure. The research was carried out in an interdisciplinary research project that laid the foundations for the Obesity eLab and Obesity Atlas projects. The approach was utilised by the NorthWest Institute for BioHealth Informatics to support public health decision-making based on epidemiological data.
