Additional information

The design of separation processes based on pressure swing adsorption is becoming increasingly important due to the need to retrofit CO_2 capture technologies on existing power plants. However, PSA process inherently have conflicting performance indicators: increasing the purity of the desired product will usually lead to a reduction in the recovery of this product. This paper presents a robust procedure able to identify the optimum operating conditions that achieve the best compromise between the objectives. This work underpinned the proposed work in a subsequently funded EPSRC project on integrated CO_2 capture for power plants, EP/G062129/1.
