This paper arises from EPSRC grant reference EP/F038135/1 (one of 5 linked grants across UK universities). The research was supported by a stakeholder group consisting of 30 leading UK consulting engineering practices (including AECOM, Hoare Lea and Buro Happold), together with the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). In 2013 CIBSE will launch its revised edition of Guide A2: Weather Data, which will draw from the research reported under these linked research projects and will be made available to UK building design practitioners for the design and future-proofing of tomorrow’s buildings.
