Additional information

This paper sets out how software source control theory from the computer science disciplines can be applied to cloud-based BIM server research and development. The working prototypes that resulted from this very innovative approach have been made available (via the xBIM Open source initiative at www.codeplex.com/xBIM ) to industry collaborators and are being adopted by them. For example, 4Projects, the commercial partners of the ‘4BIM’ TSB project, are currently developing these prototypes for commercial delivery via their market leading extranet product. (www.4BIM.org ).
