Additional information

Scoping work for the National BIM Library identified inadequate and inconsistent support for the international standard schemas for Building Modelling (BuildingSmart Data Model). This paper describes a methodology for determining and testing schema conformance by industry leading BIM software tools. It has been accepted by the BuildingSmart Technical Committee and the leading BIM vendors and has resulted in all the leading BIM tools being modified to perform in accordance with the standards. The impact of this is to greatly improve the industry’s ability to develop and maintain construction product libraries in the neutral format of the international standard ISO 10303.
