Additional information

An advanced modelling tool is proposed that uses finite element analysis and is capable of modelling extreme loading cases (e.g. blast response). This paper presents three dimensional finite element models of the low-impulse localised blast loading response of fibre-metal laminates based on an 2024-O aluminium alloy and a woven glass-fibre/polypropylene composite. It was part of project entitled "Optimising blast resistance of street furniture made with Fibre-Metal Laminates" funded by the Leverhulme Trust, UK.
