Additional information

This paper provided experimental confirmation that small size produces dramatic enhancement of the Bauschinger effect and plastic recovery after deformation, as reported on the basis of simulation and modelling work elsewhere. The work results from a contact with the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China, and it underpins agreed future collaboration with Prof. He and his group.
