The research reported here was conducted in collaboration with a visiting co-author from the Department of Chemistry, Karadeniz Technical University, Turkey. Two other publications resulted from the work performed during and after this visit. This paper contributes to the development of titanium dioxide and silver loaded-titanium dioxide suspensions or sol-gel based coatings for antimicrobial applications. These have applications that are pertinent to health care professionals and medical device manufacturers.
