<11>Coalgebraic semantics has been touted as a unifying framework for a large class of modal logics. The applicability of universal results in the theory of coalgebras has hitherto been restricted to logics that come equipped with a complete semantics. This paper shows that such a semantics can always be constructed for the class of so-called rank-1 logics. As a consequence, the wide realm of coalgebraic techniques is now available also for logics that do not come with a pre-defined notion of semantics. We illustrate this by discussing new applications to deontic logics and derive their complexity and show strong completeness.
