Double-weighted statement

This monograph draws on a very wide range of primary material, including state and secret police archives, photographs, newspapers and magazines, and c. 30 oral history interviews. The collection of this material took at least one year's uninterrupted work, all of it in Germany. A particular feature of this book is its combination of social and cultural history methods and sources: for example the chapter on nude photography draws not only on the photographs themselves, but on archives and interviews.
