Additional information

This work shows for the first time that the catalytic activity of what is essentially a catalyst pellet (platinum supported on a perovskite oxide) can be controlled by manipulation of the oxygen chemical potential difference across the membrane. This important result means that catalytic mechanisms in supported catalyst systems need to be revisited, and offers the opportunity to exploit this mechanism for in-situ catalyst activity control.
