Additional information

<28> This result from EPSRC-funded research is the first model of the formation of biological neural networks that can faithfully reproduce both spatial and topological features of the brain. It is therefore a starting point for understanding how changes in growth parameters result in changed network architecture - the underlying reason for many human developmental brain diseases. These pilot results, together with the previous paper, were crucial in securing EPSRC funding to model human brain development (£465k, EP/K026992/1).
