Estimating Facial Reflectance Properties Using Shape-from-Shading
<23>First method that simultaneously solves for shape and reflectance properties from a single image. Novelty lies in use of statistical constraints combined with empirical reflectance estimation. Evaluation includes images with known ground truth allowing quantitative study of the effect of illumination direction. Includes comparison to only other single image reflectance estimation technique. This paper led to an invited presentation at the ICIP 2011 special session on Modern Shape-from-shading and Beyond. An early version of the work appeared at the ICCV 2007 workshop on Photometric Computer Vision which led to an invitation to submit to the special issue of IJCV.
