<22> The development of effective plagiarism detection systems is hampered by a lack of publicly available evaluation data. This paper [GoogleScholar:28] introduces a novel methodology for creating such data using simulated but realistic examples. A corpus implementing this methodology has been made publicly available (http://goo.gl/baidRs) and researchers in the UK, Germany and Greece have published work based on it. The methodology has been adopted for six international evaluation workshops on plagiarism detection (FIRE 2011 and 2012; PAN 2010-2013). The research was carried out during an EPSRC Advanced fellowship (CASTLE).
