Analysis of local chemical and structural inhomogeneities in FeySe1-xTex single crystals
This paper reports new microstructural evidence to explain the coexistence of magnetism and superconductivity in Fe(Se,Te) superconducting crystals. My idea to use electron backscatter diffraction for the first time to map variations in lattice parameter with very high precision and lateral resolution showed that a spatially separated two-phase model is more appropriate than a single phase description. This paper is the first from an ongoing collaboration with Boothroyd (Oxford Physics) and the Conder group (PSI), and has directly led to new collaborations on similar materials with Canfield (Ames Lab) and Radaelli, Hesjedal, A. Coldea (Oxford Physics).
