Additional information
This paper is one of a series from a long standing collaboration with Professor Magdi Yacoub’s group. Three different human cell types were seeded on Type 1 collagen based scaffolds (HIVs, MSCs and ADSCs), and ADSCs shown to produce more tissue more quickly and closer to that required to generate a heart valve. This is important because it shows that different stem cells behave differently even with the same stimulus and that ADSCs may prove the best cell line to use. The use of reproducible and specifically tailored scaffolds from Oxford was critical in the success of this study.
