Additional information

The paper presents the first study of a rocking–isolated frame. The work presented in the paper arose from the €2.4M ERC-funded project “DARE” (ERC-2-9-AdG228254-DARE; http://ideas-dare.com). The analysis of the paper is based on the simplified constitutive model of output 1, applying the concept of “rocking isolation” to a realistic model of a building. The work in this paper has formed the basis for an exhaustive experimental campaign of rocking isolated frame structures, the results of which were presented by Anastasopoulos in his Keynote Lecture at the 2nd International Conference on Performance-Based Design in Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering.
