Additional information

<1> Emerging technologies. This paper details the first experimental implementations of complex geometric calculations using mobile defects in chiral liquid crystal phases. The paper also decribes a simple model that details how the predictable and controllable growth of such defects could be used to produce arithmetic circuits based on the principles of collision based computing. The work is the product of an ongoing collaboration between scientists at HP and members of the unconventional computing group at UWE, looking to exploit material properties for tangible outcomes in non classical computing.
