Additional information

Although t-butanol is widely used as radical scavenger in fundamental water-ozonation studies, its effect on gas-liquid mass transfer was not well understood. This study showed that not only t-butanol modified the surface tension but also it affected the solution viscosity which resulted in improved mass transfer coefficient, kL. t-butanol also reduced the bubble sizes and enhanced the gas holdup. Overall the volumetric mass-transfer coefficient, kLa was improved and useful models based on surface coverage were developed. Chemical Engineering Science is the international leading journal in chemical engineering research.
