Additional information

This paper reports the novel use of breath analysis using thermal desorption and GCMS to evaluate the use of VOC's for monitoring COPD. The sampling technique, chemical analysis and comprehensive statistical analysis of a data set, sets this paper apart as a landmark in the study of breath samples. The Journal of Breath Research has an impact factor of 2.541 which is quite high for a relatively new (less than 4 years old Journal). This paper represents a unique collaboration between engineering and practising physians to udnertake a major study on VOC's for the evaluation of COPD
