Double-weighting is requested for this monograph on the basis of two of the relevant criteria: ‘the collection and analysis of a considerable body of material’ and ‘the use of primary sources which were especially extensive, complex or difficult to access’. A large amount of material (in different languages) from Britain and the Indian subcontinent is discussed in the book. Some of this material is based in archives and is not easy to access in the UK and India. The scope and size of this substantial monograph call for a double weighting.
