Additional information

A new wireless media access control layer protocol is developed and shown to be able to outperform current 802.11/TDMA schemes, but without their overheads and inefficiencies, making it suitable for highly dynamic network topologies, such as MANETS that use the WiFi standard. The work was funded under EP/H004793/1 and co-author (Dr Zhou) subsequently seconded to a university start-up company "Traffic Observation & Management (TOM) Ltd" to incorporate the protocol into a new range of secure wireless products called "SpriteGuard" targeted at the wireless payments Industry.
