CELM is a revision and extension of the earlier printed Index of English Literary Manuscripts. Lavagnino had sole responsibility for planning the structure and functionality of this digital version, including making it possible to view the catalogue entries from perspectives that were never possible with the printed text. He also supervised the work of converting the earlier printed version into this new and extended form, conducted extensive tests on the integrity and consistency of the resource, composed new entries, and edited existing ones. By agreement of the project's participants, Lavagnino was credited with 50% of the effort.
