Additional information

In addition to being responsible for the conception and design of the project with the other investigators, Vetch's principal input into the project has been in the theoretical and practical design of the digital deliverables, the purpose of which is to transform a body of existing scholarly material (the Mapping Medieval Chester resource) to provide a compelling and engaging user experience without overtly abridging or diluting it. The digital output attends to recent trends and furthers the efforts of the GLAM sector in terms of strategies for achieving broad audience engagement, modelling a user’s journey and learning experience before, during and after their theoretical visit to Chester. As a knowledge transfer project, a secondary aspect of Vetch's activity has been to ensure that the digital elements of the project have blazed a trail for best practice in cultural heritage dissemination, from the implementation of relevant standards, to attending to principles of inclusive and accessible design in terms of the way in which the website platform has been designed. Rather than taking simple steps such as accommodating a broad range of delivery devices, Vetch's work has focused on anticipating and ensuring different modes of engagement with the resource – whether on the streets of Chester, in the Grosvenor museum, or from home .http://discover.medievalchester.ac.uk/
