Additional information

Pierazzo's intellectual contribution on the Jane Austen’s Fiction Manuscripts: a Digital Edition is threefold.:

1. She has developed the overall data model for the project. This has meant selecting the standards to store the data; choosing which features of the data (and particularly of manuscripts) were worth annotating in order to fulfil the goals of the project; customizing the standards employed in order to adapt to the particular needs of the project. These activities have lead to interactions with the standards’ developers (in particular the Text Encoding Initiative), resulting into a substantial modification of the standards themselves.

2. She has provided training and guidance in the editorial work. She has developed the framework within which the encoders have worked and supervised the data entry.

3. In accordance with the PI requirements, she has designed the website (www.janeausten.ac.uk), its functionality, and its behaviour. In coordination with the technical developers she has also determined the choice of the technologies used by the website.

In addition to these, she also served as project manager for the last two years of the project.
