Les études culturelles franco-britanniques: définitions et exemples
'Intercultural studies’ has become an established teaching and research area in France and Britain. This article locates the field among related areas of academic and general interest, such as transnational approaches, global studies and histoire croisée. It highlights the key factors in their emergence, including post-imperial revisions to American historiography, the development of the European Union and a renewed academic interest in micro-history and cultural studies. The strengths and weaknesses of these approaches are assessed, in particular their remarkable relevance for the study of Anglo-French exchanges and the problematic search for elusive practical uses in the context of business training.
