Additional information

The Kenya research builds on research carried out in the UK on professional identities. The Arasa & Calvert (2013) uses a similar methodology as was used in the UK and the Calvert & Muchira (2013) uses only interviews. The purpose of this second study in another university was to see if what we had observed in a secular established university might be replicated or reflected in a religious HE institution with a different culture, ethos, code of behaviour, student body and history. This accounts for some of the similarities in text between the two articles.
