Additional information

In this paper, a novel approach to the integration of complex chemistry in turbulent flame simulations, an outstanding problem in turbulent combustion modelling, is proposed. This approach, incorporating the RCCE and LOI methods, results in a complete methodology for deriving reduced mechanisms. Work on this approach has led to EPSRC funding (EP/G057311/2, £140,300). It is the latest outcome of the author’s series of papers on the RCCE method, for which he has been awarded the Hinshelwood Prize of the Combustion Institute, British Section.
