This study - which is one of the first to explore quantitatively a phenomenon known as the servitization of manufacturing - has been used by policy makers in several countries, including Singapore, Taiwan and the UK (ID_in_audit_file@bis.gsi.gov.uk). Keynote speeches based on the research have been given at various international conferences, including events organised by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Germany (Creating the Future with Services - see http://www.dienstleistungstagung.de/index.php?id=60&L=1) and the Korean Development Institute (Changes in Industrial Landscape and the Future of the Service Economy - see http://www.kdi.re.kr/2012_forum).
