Additional information

The work described in this paper forms the geometric basis for work on blast-resistant sandwich panels at Cambridge funded by a GBP25,133 grant from DSTL, and work on earthquake resistant structures and other uses of origami in construction by Professor Paulino (ID_in_audit_file@illinois.edu) at the University of Illinois. It also led to Dr Guest being invited by Professor Paulino to participate (along with Chuck Hoberman (ID_in_audit_file@hoberman.com), Robert Lang (ID_in_audit_file@langorigami.com) and others) in a bid to the prestigious National Science Foundation programme: Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation. This bid was successful, and further related bids are being prepared.
