Additional information

The identification of the significance of design process-intrinsic constraints on potentially limiting engine performance described in this paper was instrumental in the award, in 2010, of a GBP353k project jointly funded by Rolls-Royce plc and the UK Technology Strategy Board under the Strategic Investment in LOw carbon Engine Technology (SILOET) programme (RG58684 and RG58685). The project leader in Rolls-Royce was Dr Simon Gallimore (ID_in_audit_file@rolls-royce.com).
