Additional information

This quantification of the importance of technical and operational factors that influence CO2 emissions from road freight led directly to formation of the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight (www.csrf.ac.uk), a collaboration between Cambridge University Engineering Department and Heriot-Watt University’s Logistics Research Centre. The centre aims to develop innovative technical and operational solutions to sustainability of road freight. It has attracted GBP4.4M funding from EPSRC (Grant Ref EP/K00915X/1) and substantial support from a new industrial Consortium with 15 sponsors from the freight and logistics industry and vehicle manufacturers (Justin Laney, General Manager, Central Transport, John Lewis, ID_in_audit_file@waitrose.co.uk).
