The article presents the initial results of a 2008-09 study on media-civil society organisation strategic alliances in Latin America. The project is pioneering in identifying and exploring projects that link these sectors in the region. Drawing in some of the cases researched, the article explores the challenges these organizations face in achieving a productive interaction towards their institutional and broader social agendas. The preliminary results presented were also discussed with representatives of Media and Civil Society Organizations in events organized by the Alliance and the feedback was included in the book published the following year.
