Additional information

Sicilia-Aguilar led the optical observational programme, including both photometry and spectroscopy. She used these data to determine the luminosity and hence the increase in accretion rate between quiescence and outburst. Her determination of the stellar luminosity was essential in showing that the temperatures reached were sufficient (>700K) for the annealing process but not high enough to vaporise the silicate particles.
