Additional information

This work overcame long-standing problems of stability and acidity, that prevented oils derived from wood via fast pyrolysis substituting for fossil fuels in stationary engines for power generation. Successful demonstration of intermediate pyrolysis oils in use led to collaboration with NEK Germany and Fleetsolve UK (Contacts: Keith O’Connor CEO Fleetsolve Ltd, Keithoconnor@fleetsolve.com, Dr. Bodo Liebe NEK GMBH, Dr. Bodo.Liebe@nek-kl.de) and the recent formation of a spin-out from Aston University that aims to meet the considerable demand for such alternative fuels throughout Europe.
