The resultant shape from shading technique will be used, for the first time, to generate 3D terrain models of the Martian surface during the ESA/Roscosmos ExoMars 2018 mission. The technique forms part of the new EU FP7 Planetary Robotics Data Exploitation (PRoViDE) project (Grant No. 312377), total awarded 1.99M€, 10 international partners.
