Additional information
This review paper is a novel synthesis of three main theoretical developments in tourism studies – the mobilities paradigm, the performativity approach and actor-network theory, combined with the original identification of key cutting-edge research issues in the sociological study of tourism. The argument is based on a narrative review approach. Its significance lies in its critical appraisal of key theoretical approaches and research issues in tourism sociology, which will help to steer and guide future research to these areas.
