Additional information

Paper in industrially focused journal used by international wind code developers has industrial and overseas co-authors and describes the first commercial application of our research-proven real time operational modal analysis procedure. The system was installed to warn of incipient structural failure of Rugeley power station flue stack due to predicted in-line enhanced vortex-shedding. The system conclusively demonstrated the effectiveness of Oudin’s record-breaking 40 tonne tuned mass damper controlling the vibrations. The client (Charles.Goddard@bierrum.co.uk) was “…very pleased with the innovative solution…”. The exercise also provided data for design guidance on inline chimneys for the international chimney industry (CICIND.org).
